Well, We Can Rule Out Strickland For VP

Tue Jun 10, 2008 at 11:23:24 PM PDT

Ted Strickland,, while apparently on Obama's short list for VP, doesn't want the job.

He had an interview with National Public Radio where he said the following :

"Absolutely not. If drafted I will not run, nominated I will not accept, and if elected I will not serve."

I'd say that's fairly straightforward, but as he is a Clinton supporter, the question begs, is it bitterness?

I don't think so, and I'll tell you why after the jump.

Later in the interview, he said this about Obama's Ohio chances in the fall:

"I would say somewhere around 5 in a scale of 1 to 10. I think it’s, I just think it’s a challenge because of the nature of our state."

Nature of the state? Now could this be the infamous 'working class'(racial) problem coming back again? Could be, but that's up to perception.

He was a huge Hillary supporter and he has also repeatedly pushed Hillary as a VP candidate, and being the noble foot soldier he is, Strickland is not going to try and maneuver his candidate out of that opportunity at such a stage.

But why not just say so, why put it on the 'nature of the state'? I don't like the wording, and I don't like the undertone.

I guess it was best Strickland didn't move more into the spotlight on the VP search, as this could have been a major embarrassment, instead of a minor blip.

Kathleen Sebelius, come on down...
